His influences cover an eclectic array of performers, including Steve Jordan, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jim Keltner, Steve Ferrone, Roger Hawkins, and Dave Garibaldi.

  • Michael Cline

Michael Cline is the bass player for long running Huntsville rock band 5ive O’clock Charlie, as well as metal band Forest Haven, studio project The Grassring, original rockers Jimmy Speed, and country artist Duane Walker.

A Madison native, Michael attended various colleges while working as a radio DJ, magazine writer, tuba player/bass player, concert promoter, and music teacher. Eventually graduating from UAH, he moved away again and began a 30+ year bass playing career travelling/touring throughout the US and abroad, doing gazillions of gigs & studio sessions.

Appearing on countless recordings and releases led to a player/producer role for North Carolina’s Scott Johnson Band and the 2003 release of “Another Trip Around the Sun”. Two songs from that record made the ballot for the The Recording Academy's Grammy Awards.  Michael also produced and played bass for David Landeo’s award winning release, “Sol Juice” in 2007.

Now back home and living in Madison since 2005, Michael is Dad to a college student and had a recent pandemic/shutdown career change to a local government role, he currently serves as Madison County Compliance Manager.

Michael is excited about the growth of the local music scene and the investment by local leaders to make the Huntsville area a “music destination.”
